INSPIRATIONAL SUNDAYS - Vintage Renditions
A friend posted this video on Facebook a few days ago. I thought it was such an interesting take on a Top 40 pop song. There are millions of covers floating around Youtube - some are sung in the exact same fashion as the original, whereas others are performed in a slightly different way. Never would I have imagined something as unique as this.
Scott Bradlee & Postmodern Jukebox did a wonderful Du Wop interpretation of Miley Cyrus’s “We Can’t Stop”. I think the original song is catchy but raunchy and classless. By changing it to a 1950’s style of music, this song has a more sophisticated vibe to it.
Other wonderful renditions they have done are:
Psy’s “Gentleman” in 1920’s Jazz
Selena Gomez’s “Come and Get It” in 1940’s Jazz
Justin Bieber and Nicki Minaj’s “Beauty and a Beat” in 1940’s Swing
Swedish House Mafia’s “Don’t You Worry Child” in 1920’s Jazz
